Just a quick clip of planing some long 5/4 oak on my 1975 Oliver 16" pattern makers jointer. 3 phase, 5hp direct drive. Followed by a few passes through the 1945 Oliver 18" thickness planer. 3 phase, 3hp, also direct drive.
Both machines were owned by the late Phil Lowe at the Furniture Institute of Massachusetts before closing. I had spent a lot of time operation, and maintaining these machines and really just have a love for them. Being able to keep Phil's machines in good order and in use is truly a privilege. He loved the old iron, and Oliver machines particularly.
